Abstract

This is an introductory workshop on longitudinal data analysis using large scale secondary surveys. The overall ethos of the five days will be getting researchers started and developing basic skills and competence with longitudinal data. This workshop will include a mixture of presentations and practical computer based lab sessions. Participants will be introduced to different sources of longitudinal data and various approaches to their analysis. Social science based examples will be employed throughout the workshop but the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS) in particular will be used extensively. The value of longitudinal data and their scope and limitations will be highlighted.
